Boys Ranch
Giving Tuesday Campaign

Letters from Home

Giving Tuesday is an annual event where supporters from around the world come together to fundraise for the causes that inspire them.

This campaign was inspired by memories of writing thank you letters to my grandparents. Throughout my career at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, I often recalled these memories thanks to the huge role this task has in philanthropy. The boys and girls at Boys Ranch were also often inspired to write donors to thank them for their support.

Another prominent element for children at Boys Ranch was how many of them would come to call it home. A home where they don’t have to worry about when their next meal will be or if they have a place to sleep. A place they will build lifelong friends and supportive relationships. For youth who come from at-risk environments, Boys Ranch is often the first safe place they’ve lived.

This campaign, Letters from home: Messages of hope from a grateful generation, included a commercial and interviews with Boys Ranch youth who shared how Boys Ranch became like a home to them, illustrating how donors have helped them find a place to call home. The campaign also included a Facebook fundraiser, emails and social blasts to ask for support from Boys Ranch supporters.
