In 2016, Oregon’s legislature designated March 28 as Minoru Yasui Day, honoring the state’s only Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient and his lifelong fight for equality, justice, democracy, and civil rights. Each year, this day serves as a call to reflect on Yasui’s legacy and its continued relevance today.
For the 2024 Minoru Yasui Day program, I led digital communications and campaign execution for a public event hosted by the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project in partnership with the Japanese American Museum of Oregon. The event brought together community members, educators, and advocates to engage in dialogue around current challenges to democracy and civil rights.
My work included developing and executing a multi-channel campaign across print, social media, website, email, and Eventbrite to increase visibility, drive attendance, and support community engagement.
